AquaGym Swim Club Coaches

The AquaGym Swim Coaches are responsible for setting the workouts and helping swimmers achieve their goals. Through the Head Coach they report to the Board who is the main driver for the Club’s strategic development and ensuring the implementation of a culture of excellence.

David Prattley

daveDavid joined the Club in late 2012 after a successful role as Head Coach of the Hokanui Swim Club in Southland and Executive Officer for Swimming Southland.

His coaching achievements include Open Medals, Age Group Long Course and Short Course medallists, NZ Short Course Open records, Division 2 meet medalists for the past 12 years, as well as coach for Swimming NZ Age Group Camps in 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, NZ Tri Series 2010 and Swimming NZ Youth Camp Coach 2011. David has had athletes selected to Swimming NZ Youth & Age Group Camps 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, the 2012 Swimming NZ Wellington High Performance Programme and the 2013 World Championships. He was also selected to attend the 2013 World Championships as one of the Aquablack Team coaches but had to decline this appointment.

David brings significant personal and coaching skills to AquaGym Swim Club. In particular, he has a discilpined, careful and detailed approach to his coaching with ability to change and adapt to get the programme right. His sensitive approach to his swimmers and their needs assists in their development as independent thinkers and problem solvers.

Felicity Lowen

Felicity Lowen has recently commenced work with Aquagym Swim Club as the new Slayers coach. Felicity has been a competitive swimmer for the past 9 years up to the highest National and Regional Level.

Felicity has recently retired from competitive swimming and next year will commence her study towards becoming a midwife.

As the Junior coach she will be working with the Slayers squad to deliver a quality programme which teaches the theory behind the technique and skills and develop the athletes as confident and competent swimmers and competitors.
